Excerpt from Message

(back) Just a line to say “alls well.” Weather in the 30's. Do not go abroad quite so much. Sat & Sun very busy days – attending ceremonies in various churches. Colorful & interesting. Gift giving reserved for Jan 6th commemorating visit of the wise men with gifts for the infant savior. Rome is filling up with visitors, about 10,000 here for Saturday alone. Others arrive daily. I walked all over roof of St. Peters & around the high gallery on inside of dome. Outside could see snowcapped Apennine Mts. (front) Behind Eng. Cemetery tombs of Shelley – Keats and other prominent English men of letters / tomb / One of the many gates in the old walls of Rome.
