Excerpt from Message

My dear May: This is the quaintest of all the old places we have ever visited. We drove over here yesterday and visited the parish priest who is a nephew of the proprietor of our hotel. You should have seen the welcome we received from his mother, sister, and himself as also she [illegible] Uncle’s silk hat caused in the town. The city gate which I have marked is so narrow that all one horse carriage could [illegible] enter in so we proceeded on foot over cobble stones [illegible] have been [illegible] I know a thousand years like the tower, and are so large that I am sure they will easily last one thousand years more. The dome was built by Castruccio Castracani. Read about him and you will find an interesting story. N.A. Burke
