Excerpt from Message
Alas! I have no “feathery lady” to return to you & it rains & my needs must remain written – perhaps some sunny day I shall find a feathery fair mayde to send you - I am feverishly impatient to hear the other 2 ‘verses’ of the transcending poem you write me of – Mrs. Clarke, do tell me the name of French dictionary again please. / Ah Genevieve how could you be so cruel and leave me so in doubt about Katy’s fate. I assume it is the first “verse” you have sent me. / Auntie’s letter is beautiful! Thank you for it! / It is certainly a comfort to know she was only nearly drowned. It must have been awfully wet Jan. anyway – I console myself with the though she never tried to reach the jam again [illegible] / Do tell me dear – Anxiously & affectionately. A.K.
