Excerpt from Message

A mass I had composed in honor of Father Serra, I have concluded in this, his favored mission, on occasion of the anniversary of his death, 150 years ago. I am the happy professor of one of his manuscripts. The mission and its surroundings are most picturesque and pastorlale.
