Description, Abstract, or Artist's Statement
Being an Industrial and Systems Engineering Student with a foot in volunteer work, I have seen how ISYE can be used to optimize industry and systems that companies have in place, and figured its processes could also be applied to look into the systems being used to solve the homelessness crisis. In this paper, I plan to discuss the data and statistics behind homelessness, the solutions currently in place, how ISYE is currently being used and how it can be applied more efficiently, as well as explore how we as engineering students and as a society can use our education (this blessing of an opportunity) to be a part of the solution.
