The coloring of Lake Tahoe's water - a brilliant emerald and indigo blue - is remarkable 23 miles long, 13 miles wide and over 1800 feet deep. It is completely hemmed in by peaks varying from 8,250 feet above the sea level. The elevation of the lake is 6,250 feet.
