This gives a very good idea of “La Chasse” – which is made of brass – the filigree in front of the head is removed and a light shines directly upon the face, so one can see ver distinctly – also at the foot where one may get a view of the whole figure – How real it is to see her lying there , so calm and peaceful and to think of the long, long years of hard work, ill health, contradictions and trials all over now and only the joy of victory remains, for all eternity – It makes one stronger in one’s desire to be a Saint to kneel thus before the body of one so much studied and loved. The altar is of a light brown wood. I do not know the kind it was made, carved by one of our domestics – the little panels at the sides are paintings on the left Blessed Madeleine S. under the great tree in the garden at Paris surrounded by the children and the famous lamb grown to sheephood, before her – at the right she is seen before the Blessed Sacrament with the heavenly light which was sometimes remarked by the religious. The shrine is at the entrance of the chapel, a kind of ante-room without partition to separate many relics of saints are about- and a Gothic confessional
