Notre Dame Church, Interior, Montreal, Que. The first Notre Dame chapel was built in 1642 at Point Callieres [sic], succeeded by a larger edifice in 1654. In 1672 the first Notre Dame Church was built on Place D'Armes. The present church was erected in 1829. The interior is 255 ft. long, 134 ft. wide and 80 ft. high. In the eastern tower hang ten bells and in the western Le Gros Bourdon weighing 15 tons. The towers are 227 ft. high.
