The first attempt to publish a student newspaper, The Paper, lasted only one semester, fall 1958. Felled by the University Administration over an article about a campus drama group, The Paper demonstrated the solidarity of USD and SDSU students when its last issue detailing the controversy was published on the last page of SDSU’s student newspaper, The Aztec.
