An engraved pictorial bookplate on sepia tinted paper with black ink. There's a man sitting and pondering on a boat that's out at sea. Framing the image is calligraphic leaf border that continues and completes the shape of the bookplate. The banners collectively say in latin "Libri Participati dupliciter cari" which translates to "participatory books are dear in two ways". The name on the bookplate is "Katharine Thomas Cary"
