Abstract
A diverse, distributed network of repositories of research outputs is an essential component of open science infrastructure, offering opportunities for more open, inclusive and equitable global research communications. The U.S. Repository Network (USRN) is envisioned as an inclusive community committed to advancing repositories in the U.S. through advocacy, good practices, and community building. This presentation will introduce the aims of the USRN and ways to participate.

Vicki Coleman is the Dean of Library Services at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (N.C. A&T). Prior to joining N.C. A&T, she held leadership positions in libraries at Arizona State University, the University of Virginia, the University of Kansas and at Texas A&M University. Coleman currently serves on the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) Steering Committee and she co-chairs the U.S. Repository Network Steering Group. She is the chair of the 1890 Land-Grant Library Deans/Directors Association and she holds membership in the American Library Association and the HBCU Library Alliance. Coleman serves on the Editorial Board of portal: Libraries and the Academy. She holds a BS in mechanical engineering from N.C. A&T and an MILS from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
Martha Whitehead is Vice-President for the Harvard Library and University Librarian, and Roy E. Larsen Librarian for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Harvard University. In these roles, Martha leads a library network of over 800 staff engaging with scholars and students across over 25 libraries and around the world. Martha joined Harvard University in June 2019 from Queen’s University, Canada, where she served as Vice-Provost (Digital Planning) and University Librarian. Martha has a long history of service, with active engagement in regional, national, and international initiatives to advance digital research infrastructure and open scholarly communications. She currently serves as Chair of the Executive Board of the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR), Vice-Chair of the Board of the Digital Research Alliance of Canada, and Co-Chair of the U.S. Repository Network.
