Caption

Belle Isle Park, an island lying in the Detroit River, the playground of the people of Detroit, is one of the most beautiful parks in the country. It has many canals, a large Casino and Pavilion. It contains 758 acres and has over 20 miles of fine raodways. Among the features of the island are a fine Zoo, Aquarium, Conservatory and Bathing Beach, also several splendid monuments. The island was purchased in 1879, and the City has expended over two and one quarter millions of dollars developing it.
