Excerpt from Message

Dear Mother - This morning mother and I got your dear letter, forgive me for answering by postal but four more days here. We are leaving Friday morning. The weather has turned very warm again and poor mother is very uncomfortable. Aunt May wrote us the details of Uncle Joe's birthday party. It must have been gorgeous. Oh! how I wish I could have been there. This is a picture of a favorite spot of mine. It is grand to drive out there in the evening after a day such as today. The very thought of those horrid little caterpillars eating your lovely flowers makes me want to rush right home and slay them all. Fondest love to Reverend Mother, your loving child, Virginia Doty.
