Caption

Outlet of Beartooth Lake and Beartooth Butte, Red Lodge-Cooke City, Montana Highway to Yellowstone National Park – This is a noteworthy scenic attraction, a geological freak of nature, the Butte being a geological upthrust, as sea shells can be found on the Butte. The lake is one of the prettiest in the Mountains with a 4 1/2 mile shore line and on the shore of this lake is located a tourist public camp ground, hotel, photo and curio shop, general store, filling station and boat livery. It is 42 miles from Red Lodge, 22 miles from Cooke City, the natural halfway stop for tourists driving over the Red Lodge High Road.
