The old Spanish architecture of the Union Station is definitely brought to mind by the beautiful Patio with its vivid flowers and tropical trees. This affords an outdoor waiting room of real California atmosphere in which to greet one's friends.

Excerpt from Message

My 2 D's - We left the mountains at 8 p.m. last night in glorious weather. Our berths being made up - a state room - we said good night at once. The night quiet and restful. Had breakfast at 6.30 and were in Los Angeles at 8.30. We drove through the city - so beautiful - to the gorgeous new station. Were in this patio at 12.15 we embarked on a parlor car - reserve seats for San Diego. The weather perfect all the way I have wanted to reach out and gather in oranges from the trees. We passed groves of oranges and walnuts all the way. I loved the game. Thanks and love from all three.
