Southern Rhodesia (formerly Matabeleland and Mashonaland) is a large expanse of territory in South Africa, with an area of 750,000 square miles developed and formerly administered by the British South Africa Company. Gold, silver, diamonds, tin and coal are amoung the mineral resources of the country. The Matabele and Makalakas are the predominating tribes.
