Nimes. – Arènes (arceaux du rez-de-chaussée). Les énormes blocs de pierre de Barutel qui forment les appuis des arceaux et la base des arènes ne manquent pas de frapper le touriste. Le nombre des arcades de la galerie du rez-de-chaussée est de 60. Chaque arceau fait face à un escalier ou à une galerie basse conduisant à un pourtour voûté, sur lequel s'ouvrent des portes conduisant aux gradius les plus bas.
