Excerpt from Message

Out door things. We have a most cheerful grate-fire of wood in all rooms. So we are quite comfy when reading writing or taking a French lesson which I do every day. We are as you know in the heart of Basque Country and are learning much about these interesting race. The people here are good Catholics. The altar of the B.V. in the little Church of St Charles near the hotel is more like a repository than an altar. It is sweet to see the people come in and make visits and so many place flowers at the feet of Our Lady.
