Excerpt from Message

What do you think, I saw Agnes? I took her by surprise about a week ago. She looks as natural as ever and I was the last person she ever expected to see. I was so glad to meet her after all these years. She told me that she had received a letter from you in which you happened to mention me. Wasn't this a coincidence? Well I am at St. Mary's College, Oakland, Cal. [illegible] me one of your interesting letters. I am almost impatient to hear from you. How are you? How is Mama? I am feeling well and like California very much. I am the head of the department of Philosophy. I have a splendid class of young women. With fondest love, as ever. Lovingly,
