Description
A pictorial bookplate on off white paper with black ink for the Library of the New Haven Colony Historical Society. There's a ship on the water covered by the N.H.C. crest. The image is framed in a unique shape with curled in ends. In the empty space there are books and a man sitting with his head in his hand resting on his knee. The top of the bookplate border says "Opposition is obedience to tyrants to God" and an image in the middle of a a rock and bushes. On the bottom of the bookplates border are Roman numerals "MDCXXXVIII MCM" which is 1638 and 1900.
