An armorial bookplate with an open book in front of a torch. The book is inscribed "Fax mentis incendium gloriae". Toward the bottom of the seal is a banner that is inscribed Vassar, and surrounding the seal, the words "From the books of Celeste Fresham Niers" are written in an Old English style script.
