Description

A pictorial bookplate in black ink on off-white paper. The design features a central circular image of a mountainous landscape surrounded by lush trees. Above this image are three smaller illustrations: on the left, a depiction of the Virgin of Guadalupe; in the center, a portrait; and on the right, an Aztec statue. Below the central image, there are two portraits. Between these portraits is an intricate depiction of the Aztec calendar stone. The text “Ex Libris Frederick Starr” is displayed on ribbon banners at the bottom. The artist’s signature, “J.W. Spenceley Boston 1905,” and the copyright notice “Copyright Frederick Starr, 1905,” are located at the bottom center of the bookplate.
