Description
A heraldic bookplate in black ink on off-white paper. The design features a central shield with the Dartmouth College seal, which includes an illustration of the college building and the motto “Vox Clamantis in Deserto.” Surrounding the central shield are four smaller shields, each with its own heraldic symbols: on the top left, a mitre with crosses; on the top right, a stag’s head; on the bottom left, three wheels on a chevron; and on the bottom right, a lion and other symbols. Below the central shield, the text “Dartmouth College Library” is prominently displayed in a Gothic script. Beneath this, the text “Conner Memorial Library” is inscribed. The artists’ signatures, “M.D. Bisbee Del.” and “J.W. Spenceley Sc. 1907,” are located at the bottom of the bookplate.
