Abstract

The article focuses on the important contribution of women to the Panama-California Exposition in 1915. It provides a background of the social conditions of U.S. women who gained new freedoms and played important roles at the great world fairs in the U.S. between 1876 and 1915. It also cites the creation of a statewide California Woman's Auxiliary, which include some of the most prominent women in San Diego, with the aim of getting women involved in the exposition.
