A continuous traffic flow in both directions on the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge has proven the wisdom of this $77,000,000.00 structure. The eight and one half mile distance across the Bay is now covered in ten to fifteen minutes, traffic speed of 45 miles is allowed. Six lanes of autos can traverse the upper deck while the lower will carry three truck lanes and two train tracks. Width of Bridge is 58 ft. Main spans 2320 ft. long with a vertical clearance of 185 ft.
