Greetings from California, Mission San Buenaventura, Ventura, California – Mission San Buenaventura, located in what is now the beautiful and thriving city of Ventura, was founded by Father Serra on Easter Sunday, March 31, 1782, on a site which had been discovered and claimed for Spain by the great navigator, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, on October 10, 1542, almost fifty years to the day, after landing of Christopher Columbus.
