San Diego having the 4th highest unhoused population and is the most expensive city to live in the United States . Housing demands are becoming harder to meet with the influx of migrants coming in at the Southern Border and through Biden’s Asylum program. My research seeks to understand the current housing conditions and solutions of Haitian migrants in San Diego County. Through McNair Scholars and Keck Fellowship, I have found that not only is the market scare, but it is also a hard for migrants who are taken advantage of by 3rd parties when they don’t have papers or can’t afford the high rent. This topic is important to raise awareness in our local community so others can help out with the new knowledge they have.
