Description
In this paper, I aim to find guidance for the ever-increasing conflict Christians have lived in a modern, predominantly secular political society, in which living the Christian faith becomes complex and confusing. As, notably, American political society distances itself from Christianity and increasingly turns secular, there is an urgent need for guidance for those who choose to remain in their faith. For this, I look towards one of the Fathers of the Church, often regarded as one of the most brilliant and influential philosophers and theologians, Saint Augustine of Hippo, as a guide to navigating these difficulties and uncertainties. By extrapolating lessons from The City of God as well as other works, I draw knowledge provide insights for Christians regarding how best to navigate this seemingly never-ending conflict. This work is aimed particularly at the upcoming generation of Christians seeking peace in their lives amidst the tensions and difficulties they will face in the future.
