Abstract
The purpose of my study is to discover best practices for engaging TRIO Upward Bound Alumni who are now first generation college students at the institution where their TRIO grant is housed. I aspire to create ways for students who were served by a robust pre-college program like TRIO Upward Bound to thrive on their college campuses, despite institutional and systemic exclusion in regard to educational inequity effecting underrepresented and low-income students. My research question is: How can I improve my practice to assist California State University San Marcos TRIO Upward Bound Alumni reach degree completion? Through my research, I want to assist my office, TRIO Upward Bound programs and all other pre-college programs continue to serve students and support their alumni once they become first generation college students.
