Abstract
Using participatory action research, the purpose of this study is to introduce and encourage Black male students to take advantage of leadership opportunities in the community college setting. Using the values of equity, authenticity, and access, the intended impact of this action research project was to increase the confidence levels and highlight opportunities for student involvement among a group of Black male students at San Diego Mesa College. The culmination of four action research cycles revealed an apparent need to establish a solid foundation of community and love for Black male students to build the confidence needed to take advantage of leadership opportunities and increase involvement in campus activities.
