Excerpt from Message

Dearest Mamma, Mike & Itook an electric train up La Petite Espinette, & have walked from there to the village of Waterloo - 5 miles. We are in a tavern waiting for an omelette au jambon. We followed the bois de Cambre I should think for two miles - the woods are perfectly beautiful - the land lady has just told us that the lion monument is still half an hour's walk from here - then there are the 225 steps to climb up the top is rather foggy to day which is unfortunate as the view will not be so fine - air crisp and fresh. M.C.
