Images of cityscapes, cathedrals, and canals as they appeared in the early twentieth century are featured in this collection of more than 300 Belgian postcards. Some of the earliest postcards collected here have messages scrawled on the front. Some of these messages almost completely cover the available white space found within these scenic views. In the era before divided backs with its designated place for messages, senders had no other option since messages were not allowed on the address side of postcards.
