Description

An engraved pictorial bookplate on light sepia paper with black ink for Guilford Free Library. At top center, there is the Connecticut coat of arms, with motto "Qui transtulit sustinet", translated, "he who transplanted still sustains". There is an open book above the center image. On the left page is an image of colonists and Native Americans making an agreement with the caption "Puritans buying land from the Indians: Guilford, year 1639". On the right page is an image of a house captioned "Old Stone House. Oldest stone house in the United States. Built in 1639". The center image below the book is an image of the library.
