Description

A pictorial bookplate in black ink on sepia-tinted paper. The design features a scenic illustration of a lake surrounded by mountains and trees, with a small boat floating in the water. The foreground depicts a collection of scientific instruments, including a microscope, a retort, and an open book with detailed illustrations. The scene is framed by an ornate border with floral motifs. At the top center, there is a heraldic shield with the motto “Omnibus Artibus” (University of Minnesota's Board of Regents) and symbols of learning and creativity. Below the illustration, the text “EX LIBRIS RALPH WALLACE MITCHELL” is prominently displayed. The artist’s name “Oscar T. Blackburn, Mpls.” is inscribed at the bottom of the design.
