A pictorial bookplate in black ink on white paper, depicted a tower of books stacked horizontally and vertically, with an unfurling scroll placed on this tower. The scrool depicts a man riding a horse inscribed with the words "Don Luis Antonio Arquillo/Governor of California". The bottom is inscribed with George Haviland Barron.
