Description
A pictorial bookplate depicting presumably a native American kneeling, wearing a mohawk, a canvas hung on an arrow, with ball and axe crossed behind them. At the figure's feet, it is engraved "Calafia", for the fictional queen of the island of California. There are various Native crafts such as pots and baskets at the figure's feet. There are pages near the bottom of the image inscribed with "Book Fair/I, Queen of the amazons renounce my kingdom in service of humanity." Another page is inscribed "Californiana".
