Description

A pictorial bookplate with black ink belonging to Louis J. Silver. "Ex-Libris" is used to show who the book owner is. The main illustration is a boat heading towards the castle on the top of the cliff. There are a few buildings at the bottom of the cliff by the shore. Framing the illustration is an arched column with the artist's initials "L.J.S." in the top middle of the arch. On the left of the left column there is a statue of a woman holding a fruit basket on the top of her head. On the right side of the right column there is a male statue holding a fruit basket on his head. Their legs are cut off by a calligraphic leaf design. Above the arch are more calligraphic leaf designs, a shelf with books and a griffin laying down on both the right and left side of the shelf.
