Description
Since 2017, James Madison University Libraries Special Collections has assembled a Black Studies Research Comic Book Collection through donations, grants, and annual collection development funds. The comic books targeted are those either created by Black artists or that feature Black characters. Cataloging the collection at the item level poses ethical as well as procedural dilemmas: is it appropriate to add demographic tagging to localized versions of LCSH and LCNAF? How best to mark up our records for Ex Libris platform discovery? And what good are those Wikidata URIs, anyway?
