Abstract
The following presents the text of a course titled Critical Thinking in the AI Era. The course is about applying a critical stance to AI (namely Large Language Models) and is meant for university students. It aims to help students critically examine the framing of AI technology and empower themselves to protect their independent thinking, intrinsic motivation, mental health, and ownership over the learning process. The course is written in a narrative format by the creator (so biases and limitations are disclosed) and includes branching scenarios, links to media content, and learning activities. The discourse around AI is dynamic and multi-faceted so this course represents the author’s attempt to wade into a shifting and complex environment while maintaining the belief that teaching and learning is a relational, human activity.
