Caption

Mt. Rushmore National Memorial, Black Hills, So. Dak. This close-up view of the Monument shows in detail the fine work done by the late world renowned sculptor, Gutzon Borglum. The figures of Washington, Jefferson, Theo. Roosevelt and Lincoln are carved out of the Granite Mountain, 6200 feet above sea level, the largest sculpture ever attempted by man. The proportions are gigantic, 60 feet from chin to forehead. If completed from head to foot, the figures would be 465 ft. high.
