"Easter Sunrise" Service Cross, Mt. Davidson, San Francisco, Calif. On the summit of Mount Davidson, the highest point in San Francisco, stands this impressive Cross, a permanent structure of steel and concrete, a lasting setting for the city's annual sunrise Easter service. Towering 100 feet above the crest of the mountain, the Cross can be seen from most parts of San Francisco, and at night when it is brilliantly flood lighted, it is visible from many of the Bay and Peninsula communities, and from ships miles at sea.
