Magdalen Tower and Bridge, Oxford. Magdalen College was founded in 1448, on the banks of the River Cherwell, by William Waynflete, Lord Chancellor of England. The Tower, rising 150 feet above the street, was begun in 1492, taking 17 years to complete.
