Caption

Loch Duich – The Macrae – The Macrae. This clan is of considerable importance and antiquity, the members of which centre chiefly in the parish of Kintail. The clan fought for King James at the battle of Killiecrankie until they were practically decimated. A large number of them enrolled in the Seaforth Highlanders, formed in 1778, who did splendid service in India. Several old Highland bards were of this name. Kintail village is situated on the banks of Loch Duich, one of the most beautiful lochs in Scotland. The badge of the clan is "Club Moss."
