Saint-Sernin Church, Toulouse – This is the most spacious romanesque building in the South. The immense nave dates from the XII th and XIII th centuries. Above the magnificent vault flanked by five chapels connected with the small vaults of the transepts, there rises a marvellous hexagonal tower with five stories of high arcaturas, and crowned by an open gallery and an arrow. This Church contains the greatest riches of Christianity, after that of St-Peter at Rome.
