Death Valley National Monument, lying across the California-Nevada boundary, is a 3000 square mile area which has the lowest land in continental U.S. A great valley flanked by two mountain ranges, 78 of its 118 miles is below sea level. The valley is said to contain rocks of all known divisons of geologic time. Reached over good highways. Season October to April.
