San Francisco is one of few cities in the world where visitors may thrill to the ride on an intersting cable car. Numerous downtown hill areas such as California Street (near Grant Avenue in famous Chinatown) is one of several cable lines contributing to the handling of traffic in this thriving metropolitian city. The first cable car was operated here in 1873.
