Description

An engraved pictorial bookplate on light sepia tinted paper with sepia ink for Bessie W. Leonard. There's a woman in a toga standing and reading a book. There are two children by her feet, the one on the left is holding a painter's palette and on the right the child is reading a book. There's a quote to the left of the woman from Longfellow, "The love of learning the sequestered nooks and all the sweet serenity of books." There's a quote on the right from Milton, "A good book is the precious life blood of a master spirit embalmed and treasured up on purpose to a life beyond life." There is a rose wreath surrounding the woman and children.
