A pictorial bookplate on sepia tinted paper with black ink for Oscar Taylor Blackburn. "Ex-Libris" is used to show who the book owner is. The illustration in the center is a man at a desk working with medieval scientific instruments. Above the illustration is a medieval clock that says "As a shadow svdr is life" and beside the clock are ribbon banners that say "Ars longa Vita brevis" which translates as "Art is long, Life is short." Filling in the blank space of the background are calligraphic leaves and normal leaves. Below the illustration are books, a hourglass, and an oil lamp.
