Description
A pictorial bookplate in black ink on sepia-tinted paper. The design features a detailed illustration of a scholar at his desk, surrounded by books and scientific instruments. Above the main illustration is a sundial with the inscription “As a shadow such is life.” The border of the bookplate is ornately decorated with floral and scroll motifs. At the top, a banner reads “ARS LONGA VITA BREVIS.” Below the main illustration, the name “Oscar Taylor Blackburn” is displayed prominently on a ribbon that winds through the scene. The bottom of the bookplate features additional books with the names “Grossmann” and “Saunier” visible. The artist’s initials, “O.T.B., Minneapolis,” is inscribed at the very bottom of the design.
